Overview

Secabo membrane floor panels

  • For retrofitting many older and more or less all new Secabo heating presses.

  • Large differences in height and unevenness of transfer objects can be levelled out.

  • The current contact pressure is displayed at all times.

  • The pressure can be set reproducibly.

  • No compressor required, passive membrane with inflation piston and a drain valve.

  • For direct mounting or in combination with the quick-change system or slide.

Safety precautions

Please read these instructions and safety precautions carefully before using your press for the first time!

  • Never reach into the heat press with your hands when it is connected to the mains, especially when it is switched on and heated up - there is a risk of serious burns!

  • Never open the housing and do not attempt to modify the device yourself.

  • If you are asked by Secabo customer service to open the heating plate cover, please ensure that you wear respiratory protection and only touch the insulating wool inside with gloves. The wool must be disposed of in a closed bag.

  • Make sure that no liquids or metal objects get inside the heat press.

  • Do not inflate the membrane too much. Even if the membrane plate is inflated, no increased force should be required to close the press.

  • Ensure that the socket outlet used is earthed. Please note that you may only operate a heat press from a socket outlet that is protected by a residual current circuit breaker.

  • Disconnect the appliance from the socket when not in use!

  • Never operate the heat press within the reach of children and never leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.

  • Ensure that the appliance is only used in dry rooms.

If you are unable to observe one or more of the above safety precautions or if you are not sure whether all points have been fulfilled, please contact our technical customer service.

Commissioning

  • Screw the supplied pressure gauge with the nuts from below onto the diaphragm plate - in the front right-hand corner.

  • Mount the membrane base plate on the corresponding Secabo hot press (screws included in the scope of delivery) or on a suitable quick-change system or slide extension.

Controller

manual_secabo_membrane-baseplates_en-2.jpg

A large digital controller allows you to set the temperature (°C and °F) and the pressing time. The green digits show the theoretical value, the white digits the actual value. A counter (bottom right) counts the number of transfers that have already taken place since the last reset. The counter can be reset at any time.

Operation

  • Inflate the membrane with the inflation piston until all unevenness in your transfer object has been levelled out. Do not inflate the membrane too much. The bulge in the centre of the membrane should not be more than 5 cm when it is not under load.

  • The pressure can be adjusted by turning the black handwheel. Turning it clockwise leads to a higher pressure and turning it anti-clockwise leads to a lower contact pressure. The actual pressure of the closed heat press is displayed on the pressure gauge in g/cm².

  • While the press is closed, the contact pressure can be adjusted by further inflating the membrane plate. To reduce the pressure, loosen the silver screw next to the inflation piston.

Note: The higher the contact pressure, the faster and stronger the press opens. To avoid injury, keep your head and extremities away from the lever of the press.

Maintenance and cleaning

Maintenance work should always be carried out with the press switched off and cooled down. First remove the plug from the socket. Contact technical customer service before carrying out maintenance work.

Clean the press regularly with a soft cloth and a mild household cleaner to remove adhesive residues etc. Never use abrasive sponges, solvents or petrol. Never use scouring pads, solvents or petrol!

Important note: You should carry out your own tests with the transfer material and backing to be used before starting production. The values given above and the manufacturer's specifications are only intended as a guide. You should determine the washability and behaviour during transfer in your own tests. The recommended values do not constitute a guarantee. It is the responsibility of the user to determine and use the appropriate setting for their specific conditions.

Note for textile work: Allow the textiles to cool down after pressing before removing the backing material from the transfer material. The hotmelt adhesive in the transfer material only develops its adhesive strength when cold. If the adhesive does not adhere when cold, it may have been pressed too cold or for too short a time.
